Sunday, 01, August, 2010
Police in Shabwa Province in southeastern Yemen found on Sunday the body of a high-ranking intelligence officer.
The body of Brigadier General BaSaad Jabir, 53, was found inside his office and transported to the Ataq Hospital.
The officer was also a professor at the Education College in Ataq city, the capital of Shabwa.
Initial investigations revealed he committed suicide after he had suffered from a mental disorder.
The incident followed attacks, claimed by Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula AQAP, that targeted the buildings of public security and intelligence in Shabwa and other southern provinces.
Many were killed and injured in the attacks that came amid continuous violence by the separatist movement and AQAP which vowed to continue fighting in the south.
